VP Product Management



Brightlink, headquartered in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a full-time seasoned VP Product Management to develop and build out new products and solutions in our growth lines of business. Learn more about us here.


Position Responsibilities:


The VP Product Management will have responsibilities for developing and enhancing product strategy as well as building detailed business and product requirements for all Brightlink products and product bundles with heavy emphasis on our growth lines of business.  This position will focus on product offerings for Brightlink Messaging, Brightlink Analytics, Brightlink Communication Cloud (our cloud software based offerings), and a new marketing bundle targeting SMBs.  Key responsibilities for this individual include:

  • Developing product strategy based on strategic market analysis, competitive landscape assessment, and an understanding of customer use cases


  • Developing business and product specifications and requirements (MRD/PRDs) for new products and bundles against use cases to deliver a cohesive and impactful user experience.


  • Driving market research to validate product development and design.


  • Launching products and driving commercialization of the products – includes ensuring (via requirements to internal partners) that we have the right pricing, support model, and marketing to drive successful go to market of products.


  • Partner with the CTO/technology organization to leverage technologies and capabilities from partners as key components of Brightlink products,


  • Directing work with external developers (potentially overseas) to build against specifications and provide direction and prioritization for ongoing enhancements in the demand management queue.


  • Partnering with sales team leads and engaging directly with strategic/charter customers as needed to facilitate sales efforts and to validate product requirements.


  • Developing in-depth knowledge of Brightlink’s products and offerings and core messaging and positioning relative to market competition.


  • Ability to work cross functionally as a consummate team player.


  • Ability to contribute as a key member of the executive team.


  • Desire and aptitude to influence Brightlink’s company culture and to refine our key business processes.


  • An understanding of VOIP and software technologies preferred.  Some knowledge of voice calls and PSTN technology/network design including termination and origination of phone calls on VOIP and TDM networks helpful.


  • Fiscal responsibility with regards to expense management.

Position Requirements:


  • A bachelor’s degree with technical majors preferred.  MBA/advance degrees in technology related areas and education from top tier institutions a plus.


  • Minimum 10-15 years in the telecommunications or related technology field and 5-7 years of experience in product management related roles with responsibility for launching new products.


  • Experience managing software development from a product management standpoint with classic Silicon Valley software training/experience preferred.


  • Ability to balance strategic thinking and tactical execution (within budget and cost constraints).


  • Strong demonstration of intellect, drive, executive presence, and technology acumen.


  • Passion for continuously learning about new technology.


  • Strong EQ and proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively within teams.


  • Excellent written and oral/presentation skills and ability to independently develop and conduct effective presentations.

Impact of Role & Expected Results:


  • In partnership with Brightlink CTO/Technology team, successfully develop new SMB marketing bundle in support of 2019 business plan (revenue growth).


  • Develop and implement cadence of regular enhancements for all new product offerings.


  • Establish Brightlink product roadmap vision for 2019.


  • Contribute to overall success of the business as a senior leader.


  • Develop impactful products and a distinctive product experience that will enable the elevation of Brightlink’s stature in the marketplace.

Key Relationships:


  • This position reports to the CEO and will initially have 1 direct report focused on product commercialization.


  • Key stakeholders include all other members of the Executive team, in particular very close collaboration and partnership with the CTO.


  • Will need to incorporate requirements from sales.


  • Will need to provide requirements to marketing, sales, technology, and operations/support teams.
